The Paris Olympics 2024 Day 3 is upon us and here is everything you need to know in case you missed the action on this record-breaking day.
THE DAY OVERALL
There were
diving, archery, shooting and other medals that went up for grabs today and
once again it was China who led for the medal tally for most of the day. To
start, the Pakistan duo of Gulfam Joseph and Kishmala Talat had their mixed
team 10m air pistol competition today and in fairness to them, they performed
fairly decently out of 20 teams. Top 4 made it through and there was a time
when Pakistan was in the Top 10, 9th. The duo eventually ended up in
14th, which was a respectable performance. Men’s team archery went
all the way to the end today but eventually, Korea prevailed over France in the
final. China earned diving gold too, and here is everything else.
Precision and Pressure: The
Shooting Range
The shooting
range remained a focal point as athletes battled for medals. In the Men's 10m
Air Rifle final, Sheng Lihao from China demonstrated exceptional composure and
accuracy to claim the gold medal. Victor Lindgren from Sweden and Miran Maricic
from Croatia secured their respective positions on the podium.
The Women's
10m Air Rifle final was equally captivating. Ban Hyojin from Republic of Korea
showcased remarkable skill and mental fortitude to emerge victorious. Huang
Yuting from China and Audrey Gogniat from Switzerland joined her on the podium.
Pakistan's Shooting Stride
Pakistan
made a commendable showing in the Mixed Team 10m Air Pistol event. The duo of Kishmala
Talat and Gulfam Joseph displayed impressive teamwork and individual skill.
While they narrowly made the top 15, their performance was a testament to the
growth of shooting in Pakistan.
Beyond the Shooting Range
While
shooting dominated the day, other sports also delivered thrilling moments. The
Men's Synchronized Diving final showcased breathtaking athleticism and
synchronicity. China emerged triumphant, with Great Britian and Canada
completing the podium.
The archery
range hosted the Men's Team competition, where Republic of Korea displayed
exceptional accuracy and teamwork to claim the gold. France and Turkey secured
the remaining medals.
In the realm
of gymnastics, the Men's Team competition was a showcase of power, flexibility,
and coordination. Japan dominated, while China and the USA rounded out the
podium.
The
demanding course for the Men's Cross-Country Mountain Bike race tested
athletes' endurance and technical abilities. Thomas Pidkock from Great Britain
conquered the challenging terrain to claim the gold medal, with Victor Goretzky
from France following closely behind. The podium was completed out by a
surprising Alan Hatherly from South Africa.
After a shocking
turn of events in a Japanese gymnastics gold medal, Japan now leads the medal
table with 6 golds and Korea closely behind with 5. That’s it from Day 3 then,
see you tomorrow!
