DAY 14 AT THE OLYMPICS: CHINA CATCHES UP IN THE MEDAL TABLE AND ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW

Here we are, once again with Day 14 at the Olympic games as the mega event closes in on its conclusion and the medal table is still not decided. The US might have made a historical comeback to take the lead but now China is back on level terms with the American as the race goes down all the way to the wire.

HOW DID CHINA CATCH UP SO QUICKLY?

At first, it was shocking for everyone to know but here is how China actually made-up ground. The US didn’t win those many medals on Day 13 and 12, giving China a serious chance. The Chinese earned gold in the Men’s doubles Table Tennis over Sweden. Furthermore, they beat Australia to gold in the Women’s 3m diving Springboard final. The US only struck a single gold over the 2 days, allowing China to catch up significantly.

TRACK AND FIELD ACTION

USA’S only gold medal came ibn the Women’s 4x100 relay final as they beat Great Britain and Germany to 1st place. Germany over New Zealand over China was the story in the Women’s Shotput final as Deutschland celebrated a piece of Goldware. In the men’s version of the 4x100m relay, it was Canada that got Gold over Republic of South Africa and Great Britain. It has now been proven that African athletes really shine in Athletics, don’t they? Kenya got gold in the Women’s 10000, yes 10000m race! That is around 50 laps of the 400m track! And honestly speaking, we could see the Kenyan athlete race for USA the next time we go to the Olympic Games in Los Angelos 2028. Espana got Women’s Triple Jump gold while Dominican Republic over Bahrain over Poland was the pecking order in the Women’s 400m Final.

HOW IS INDIA BEHIND PAKISTAN IN THE MEDAL TABLE?

If you’ve seen the medal table regularly, you probably have this same question in mind. India of course have won 6 medal these Olympics, 5 Bronze and 1 silver and they currently sit 69th in the table. On the flip side, Pakistan has only won a single gold medal until now and we are 58th,11 places above India. Well, the IOC counts Gold medals as the first piece of criteria to rank the countries. And as you know, India doesn’t have a single gold so Pakistan is ahead. However, if India wins a Gold medal today, then they would be ahead since the Gold medals would be equal and the second piece of criteria, the Silver would be decisive and India has 1 while Pakistan has 0.

That is all we have then from the Paris Olympics Day 14 action as the medal table is heating up and only 2 days of action remain. Who will win the Olympics? We cannot tell now, but maybe you can! Comment sown below and for now, thanks for reading!
